OK. So I've had XC for about ten years and I use it on all my sites. It works well and I'm pleased with it. However, I've never set up a direct linking campaign with it as Adwords doesn't allow redirects. How are the direct linking campaigns going for you guys? Have any of your campaigns been disapproved? Should I not even bother with direct linking using XC?
A quick response by anyone will be appreciated. |

I've never tried direct linking in my campaigns before but I'm interested to try to see how it affects my quality scores. Can someone verify my understanding of this...the more I read, the more confused I get. Just 2 questions...
Questions 1: You can do direct linking to a Clickbank merchant page using your hoplink. The destination URL = hoplink and display URL = merchant landing page.
However, as Google only allows one domain per keyword, you will compete directly with other affiliates and the merchant themselves if they choose to bid on the same keywords. Because of this, its better NOT to do direct linking. Is his correct?
Next question, what about cloaking and iframes? I've read certain documents (not sure if they are outdated) that recommend direct linking but using PHP Redirect or iFrame cloaking. So destination URL = your domain, Display URL = your domain with iframe of merchants page. Does Google allow this? _________________ Brian Wong

I think if you're framing the merchant's URL then google won't like it. As well as the 1-url rule they simply don't want a merchant appearing more than once for any particular query. A manual review will get you busted.
Cloaking? Same deal.
The only way I can see to do direct linking on adwords safely is to find offers that no-one else is promoting on adwords.
General question for all: Do Yahoo and MSN have the same 1-url rule?
